FAQ;
How old do I have to be to join?
You can join the air cadets between the ages of 13 and 17½ and cadets can stay until they are 18 or longer if they meet some additional criteria.
What do new cadets do?
When you first join you start as a probationer – a time when you can decide whether you like the Air cadets or not – but you begin training straight away. You will learn how to conduct yourself in uniform, and about the basics of Airmanship, drill and how to handle our rifles safely, so that when you become a first class cadet about two to three months later, you are able to get the benefit from flying and shooting activities that you can now take part in.
Can adults help?
Yes, in fact the Air Cadets currently have an Adult staff recruitment campaign. Adults of any age can volunteer their services as civilian instructors helping to put their knowledge and skills, learnt either through their job or spare time interest, to good use training the youth of today. To find out more information about this, please read the details on the Headquarters website and contact us.
Sounds interesting, what do I do now?
If you would like to come along to one of our parade evenings on a Tuesday or Thursday then please contact us for more information.
